“If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading.”

EDspiringResources.org presents our guide Cultivate Calm: Routines & Rituals for a Focused Classroom. My hope is that you take what you learn and apply it to your unique situation. We are all at a crossroads in education, with many of us teaching in a variety of ways. In addition, we have become learners as well, trying to navigate the uncertainty ahead.
Over the past ten years, I have learned how to create a mindful morning with daily routines and rituals that are calm and relaxing for students. While not every day is quiet and peaceful, I know that my students and I look forward to the predictability of starting our day and utilizing as much instructional time as possible with each person contributing his or her part. The routines and rituals are tweaked a little each year to accommodate changing needs and interests. I've learned to be flexible with how I approach my daily routines because we all know things will change, but we can adapt easily when we have a strong foundation.
